Sicuramente a Londra, simbolo per eccellenza dei mercatini alternativi.
E invece questa volta no! Oggi vi voglio parlare di un luogo speciale nella nostra bella Milano, capace di far invidia alla capitale inglese e ai suoi famosi East End Market.
Il concept e’ lo stesso: si sceglie una location urbana dismessa ma dal potenziale creativo (possibilmente una fabbrica abbandonata in qualche quartiere riqualificato), si aggiungono qua e la’ camioncini street food, stand con opere dal design unico e oggettistica rigorosamente hand-made, qualche capo vintage, musica grunge in sottofondo e voila’…il mercatino perfetto e’ pronto!
L’East Market Milano, interamente dedicato ai privati, ricalca in tutto e per tutto, nome compreso, i mercatini delle pulci londinesi, soprattutto quelli del quartiere di Brick Lane (qui troverete il mio articolo a riguardo), dove si puo’ letteralmente trovare di tutto, spaziando dal campo della moda, al design, al fai-da-te, alla gastronomia, alle stramberie piu’ impensabili.
Il luogo scelto per rispecchiare al meglio lo spirito british e unconventional dell’evento e’ il Design District di Lambrate, all’interno di una storica fabbrica risalente alla Seconda Guerra Mondiale, produttrice di macchine da caffe’ Faema.
Una domenica ogni 2-3 mesi circa, migliaia di appassionati di vintage e modernariato, hipster milanesi (li riconoscerete facilmente per i tatuaggi, la barba, l’abbigliamento alternativo ma curatissimo e l’aria da veri intenditori d’arte) e collezionisti si riuniscono in via Giovanni Ventura (civici 14 e 13), chi per ricercare qualche capo da aggiungere al proprio look, chi per scovare preziosi oggetti di design, chi semplicemente per curiosare tra una stranezza e l’altra, lontani dalle solite manifestazioni mainstream.
Nelle prime edizioni East Market Milano ha richiamato talmente tanti visitatori da essere gia’ stato ingrandito, infatti al civico 13, proprio di fronte all’ingresso della fabbrica, si trova un altro spazio espositivo dove sono collocati numerosi altri stand.
Tra gli artisti che piu’ mi hanno incuriosita va sicuramente citato al primo posto Roberto Fortini con le sue spettacolari creazioni in perfetto industrial style. Il concetto alla base dei suoi lavori e’ il riutilizzo di oggetti ormai in disuso, come corni ad aria, macchine fotografiche e asciugacapelli, per creare delle lampade dal design unico. Purtroppo a meta’ mattinata erano gia’ state quasi tutte vendute ma mi sono ripromessa di andare a trovarlo direttamente presso il suo laboratorio a Lainate!
Ironico e irriverente lo stand di Andrea Cucchi con i suoi ken Jim e Jack e il loro “amore di plastica”: quadretti, poster e statuine ritraggono il famoso fidanzato di Barbie e il suo compagno di colore a spasso per il mondo…perche’ l’amore vero non fa distinzioni di eta’, sesso e nazione!!
In ogni flea market che si rispetti non possono mancare capi d’abbigliamento vintage, nuovi o di seconda mano, e accessori unici e di tendenza. Sono decine gli stand che espongono abiti di ogni tipo, cappelli utilizzati magari solo una volta in qualche sfilata milanese, papillon in legno, gioielli ricamati a mano, sneakers da collezione..c’e’ davvero solo l’imbarazzo della scelta!
Uno degli angoli piu’ creativi dell’East Market e’ quello del Crazy Art Antiquariato e Follie, ispirato ad un tema classic-horror (in vista di Halloween) con immagini anatomiche incorniciate, diapositive d’epoca, studi di entomologia, corna di cervo da parete e molte altre stramberie. A meta’ tra genio e follia! Il signore e la signora Ramponi hanno incominciato come noleggiatori di oggetti per vetrine e hanno poi accumulato nel tempo talmente tanto materiale da aprire un negozio nei primi anni ’70, specializzato in clientela dai gusti stravaganti.
Si sa che fare shopping mette appetito, quindi non c’e’ niente di meglio di una pausa all’insegna dello street food. Le proposte attualmente presenti non sono moltissime ma ben diversificate per soddisfare tutti i palati: dal classico hamburger e patatine fritte, ai panzerotti pugliesi, al baccala’ fritto, alle carni arrosto di Carolina’s, ai ramen fumanti di Casa Ramen.
